Team synopsis: Hail to the best Frozen Tundra team in 2010 the St. Louis Rams. Nathan Baylor is the organizational chief for the St. Louis franchise. Spearheading the offense, the two headed monster threats of HB Chris Johnson and QB Matt Ryan "Matty Ice". Ryan was the third pick in the 2008 NFL Draft and was named the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year for that season. In 2010 Matt earned a Pro Bowl selection while finishing sixth in Passing TD's. Chris Johnson was the 2009 NFL AP Offensive Player of the Year and was a First Team All-Pro. In 2009 C.J. led the NFL in Rushing Yards and is a 3 time Pro Bowl selection at running back.
The St. Louis Rams finished the season strong going 11-5 and earning the number eight seed for the playoffs. When you look at the Rams statistics one stat just jumps off the page. St. Louis committed just18 turnovers while leading the league in takeaways with 37. Those nineteen extra possessions went a long way in the Rams run towards the playoffs. Quarterback Matt Ryan seemed to improve as the season got deeper. Ryan had a 29/12 T.D. to Int. ratio and finished the season with a solid 85.0 Q.B. rating. Halfback Chris Johnson didn't have his best season but I think any team in the league would be happy to have his 1400+ yards rushing. St. Louis Tight Ends Dustin Keller and Jimmy Graham caught a combined 119 passes. W.R. Vincent Jackson owns a very impressive average of 21.3 yards per catch and tied for the team lead in T.D. receptions with Robert Meachem at 7 each. LB LaMarr Woodley led the defense with 11 sacks. Safety Louis Delmas tied for the league lead with 7 picks and CB's Cortland Finnegan and T.J. Ward each had 5 interceptions and as a team St. Louis had a Frozen Tundra high 28. Tampa Bay BuccaneersTeam synopsis: Tampa Bay is another of the Expansion Eight for the 2011 season. Coach Marc Lepage did a fine job of assembling the new Buccaneers. The first pick in the expansion draft was Quarterback Matt Schaub. After securing that position the focus went to building a solid foundation. Five out of the next six picks all were on the defensive side of the ball, with the defensive secondary receiving attention on three of those slots. Through trades the Bucs then acquired Nnamdi Asomugha and Daryl Smith plus HB Cedric Benson. This is a team assembled to compete from day 1.
Tampa Bay battled and worked all season to finish with a 9-6-1 record and a berth in the playoffs. The first bit of adversity was at running back. Cedric Benson wasn't performing as well as expected and the starting running back job was passed on to Joe McKnight. McKnight provided more consistent results and averaged over five yards per carry solidifying that position. Then there was the season long struggle by Quarterback Matt Schaub. Throwing one more interception than touchdowns is not your normal recipe for a playoff team. Somehow Schaubs leadership made it work for this Bucs team. W.R. Jeremy Maclin provided some nice opportunities downfield, even if they weren't always accepted. Maclin finished with team highs in catches and touchdowns receptions. The Buccaneers defense held opponents to just over 17 points per game as the unit spearheaded the teams playoff run. James Anderson had 6 sacks to lead Tampa Bay while teammates Calais Campbell and Fred Robbins had 5 each. Daryl Smith seemed to be everywhere and usually at an important time. Smith filled the score-sheet with: 1 sack, 2 fumble recoveries, 69 tackles, 5 interceptions and returned two of those picks for touchdowns. Tampa will certainly be a determined competitor in the playoffs. Buccaneers offensive leaders:
